Oregon Legislators, Prompted by Planned
Parenthood, Seek to Limit a Woman’s Right to “Choose”….
NOT to Kill Her Baby!
Clackamas, OR (March 5, 2007) LIFE SUPPORT and OREGONIANS FOR
LIFE strongly denounce proposed legislation (Oregon
Senate Bill 776). “This
bill is being pushed by Planned Parenthood and a pro-abortion contingent
in the Oregon legislature, and is an attempt to undermine the work of
crisis pregnancy centers that
don’t promote the killing of an unborn child,” said Mary
Starrett, Executive Director of OREGONIANS FOR LIFE.
The bill says pro-life pregnancy counseling centers “misinform
and mislead women to deter or to delay them from having abortions,”
and calls
for “a study of ‘“alternative-to-abortion’
pregnancy centers.” We
believe this is would be out-right harassment of these vital, pro-life,
pro-woman, sincere, and non-profit crisis pregnancy centers.
Dave Brownlow, Executive Director of LIFE SUPPORT, said: "Planned
Parenthood and their life-hating cohorts get millions of dollars
from Oregon taxpayers to ply their deadly trade. Apparently, that
is not good enough. Now they want to use the power of the
state to stomp out any competing message. This bill reeks of
thuggery and racketeering."
“Planned Parenthood (the largest
abortion provider in America) wants to derail any organization which seeks to offer women hope and help that doesn’t
include abortion,” said Starrett.
“There are big bucks in the abortion business, and they don’t
want anything to stand in their way.”

Director of LIFE SUPPORT further added: “There are significant
life-long health and mental consequences attributed to abortion
(depression, substance abuse, infertility, breast cancer and suicide),
and these crisis pregnancy centers warn young women of that.”
Cherrill Clifford, Field Director for OREGONIANS FOR LIFE, stated:
“Pregnancy counseling centers are truly PRO-CHOICE in that many
provide the mothers with information and sonograms of their developing
baby. At least 60% of those
who are pregnant, and originally say they are 'seeking abortion', change
their minds and give birth. When
that happens, Planned Parenthood loses business.”
LIFE SUPPORT and OREGONIANS FOR
LIFE oppose SB 776, and ask the Oregon
legislators to quickly discard this life-hating, racketeering bill.
We also encourage Oregonians to contact our legislators and say
“Hands OFF Pregnancy counseling centers!”
