LIFE SUPPORT

A Challenge to All Oregon Pro-Life Candidates

 

Clackamas, OR -  This week, LIFE SUPPORT, as part of the COALITION FOR ABORTION REVENUE ELIMINATION (CARE), will be giving all Oregon candidates, who claim to be pro-life, an opportunity to sign a pledge and publicly express their opposition to tax-funded abortion.  This CARE pledge was mailed out to all Oregon candidates:

 

MY PLEDGE TO THE PEOPLE OF OREGON

TO OPPOSE INVOLUNTARY PAYMENT FOR ABORTION

 

        I know the Oregon Health Plan funds abortion.  Abortion is murder.   I cannot accept the fact that my constituents and I should be forced to pay for abortions by paying taxes to the State of Oregon.

      Therefore, if I am elected, I will vote against any and all bills and budgets that contain any funding for abortion.

 

Those candidates who sign and return the pledge will have their names posted in the LIFE SUPPORT website (www.lifesupportoregon.org).   This list will allow pro-life voters to make a clear choice in the primary election. 

 

By this list, voters can choose between:

 

a)  Candidates who want tax dollars to be spent on murdering unborn babies; or

b)  Candidates who have, early on, boldly chosen to commit to oppose the state funding of abortion.

 

“It is really quite simple," says Lon Mabon, Field Director for LIFE SUPPORT.  "The pro-life community cannot stop state funding of abortion unless we elect a majority of senators and representatives who hold that goal as a high priority.  The signatures on this pledge, or the lack thereof, will reveal the intent of each heart."

 

David Brownlow, Executive Director of LIFE SUPPORT, said, “Tens of thousands of unborn Oregonians have paid the ultimate price for the cowardice of our elected officials.  It is time for our candidates to decide - will it be life, or will it be death?”

 

LIFE SUPPORT asks all legislators to pledge their commitment to oppose any bill or budget that forces taxpayers to fund abortion.
