URGES
WOMEN TO RACE FOR THE TRUTH ABOUT
ABORTION/BREAST
CANCER LINK
Clackamas,
OR – LIFE SUPPORT advises
women to get all the facts about breast cancer prevention, and warns
that the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation’s “Race for the
Cure” is disserving women by withholding documented evidence of a
preventable breast cancer risk -
Abortion.
Of
37 worldwide studies reviewing the possibility of a link between
abortion and breast cancer, 28 reported that it exists. The Association
of American Physicians and Surgeons, the National Physicians Center for
Family Resources, Catholic Medical Association, American Association of
Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Polycarp Research Institute,
and the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute have all acknowledged a link
between abortion and an increased risk for breast cancer.
And, the Race for the Cure does not warn women of these
findings, and actually goes out of its way to deny women of the
abortion/breast cancer link!
Recently,
researchers examined Britain, Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic for
a statistical link between abortion and breast cancer. According to Dr.
Joel Brind, professor of biology and endocrinology at the City
University of New York, in the Journal of Epidemiology, changes in
estrogen levels following abortions place women at an increased risk for
developing breast cancer.
"In
the early stages of pregnancy, there is a dramatic increase in the level
of estrogen, the female sex hormone," Brind said in a statement.
"This estrogen surge causes an increase in the number of breast
cells in preparation for nursing, which is why a pregnant woman's
breasts tend to swell."
"In the last eight weeks of a full-term pregnancy, other hormones
cause the increased tissue to stabilize into milk producing cells, but
at the early stage of rapid development, breast cells are in an
undifferentiated and are highly vulnerable to mutations that can cause
cancer."
Suzanne
Brownlow, Communications Director of LIFE SUPPORT, says:
“Good women are participating in the Race for the Cure,
hoping to fight against breast cancer.
It is indefensible that the abortion/breast cancer link has been
censored from them! Women have the right to know about the
existence of the credible research and the Race for the Cure event
should provide that.”
